Artistic Turning Points

- The turning of time periods and the dialogue between prevailing darkness and the glimmer of light.

The theme of the exhibition describes the division of different life phases, changes, and sometimes chaotic-seeming periods of time. "Turning points" are like stops along the way, the decisions that mark the end of a specific era, transitions to something new. These in-between spaces before major or minor life changes are essential for something new to begin to grow. Life has both shadows and light, which need to take turns emerging. The light shining from the darkness is a hopeful glimpse in the dark, reminding us that even in dark times and periods, there is always something good and beautiful. However, light can also be an unrelated, unnatural stimulus in the midst of peaceful, soft darkness, and when it retreats into the background, things are as they should be again.

The group exhibition features works by 12 different artists, executed in various techniques. The participating artists are:

Mia Huhtinen, Janita Kauppinen, Pirjo Leskinen, Jaana Mertanen, Salla Soininen, Riikka Turunen, Iro Immonen, Valtteri "Völi" Laaksonen, Tiina Miettinen, Iines Ratilainen, Joni Tanskanen, and Miia Unimetsä.
