VEIKKO MYLLER, IRJA PUHAKKA-MYLLER, JYRKI PUHAKKA, ANU TORIKKA & REIJO TURUNEN – THIRD TIME 28.5.-15.6.2025
Paintings, sculptures and prints

Veikko (Viki) Myller is a sculptor with a long and respected career. He is known for his distinctive sculptures, public artworks, and his highly expressive artistic language.
His mysterious and colorful animal-human figures form an entire mythological world of their own.

Irja Puhakka-Myller:
Starbright. And suddenly it's evening. Nightfall. Once upon a time. Against the light. Vernal Equinox!

– My paintings, many of which are inspired by pages from my sketchbooks.
Oh Tuscan pines and cypresses, you can be trusted!

– Side steps to India: Around the turn of the millennium, four trips to India radiated into my sketchbooks. Two small sketches still resonate: “One, indivisible” and “The Art of Happiness”, in which chance also played a role in their realization = is that perhaps the art of happiness in our lives?

“Eventually came the moment when the work rejected its creator and shut them out. There was something unreachable, but reaching for it felt so important that one gave their one and only life to it.” (Joel Haahtela: Marian rakkaus / Marian’s Love)

Jyrki Puhakka:
The themes of my paintings are the lights of spring and summer landscapes — I jokingly call them "evergreens." My portraits reflect the delicate relationship between humans and nature.
My grandchild has been the model for my portraits.
The bronze sculptures under the theme Light Bearers are hopeful and optimistic portrayals of humanity’s role in preserving nature, and the roles individuals play in that.

Anu Torikka builds her color prints in layers using metal printmaking techniques, combining relief and intaglio printing.
The works in this exhibition are a collection of her recurring themes such as Path, Trail, Fell, Stairs, and How to say. Each print is unique.

Reijo Turunen:
I collect materials from nature. I rearrange what I’ve gathered, searching for new meanings and perhaps discover something previously overlooked.
In my own way, I aim to participate in the ongoing environmental conversation that concerns us all.
I continue to draw and paint as well.
