OPEN CALL FOR EXHIBITIONS 2027

The exhibition application period for 2027 at Art Centre Ahjo is now open. You may apply for exhibition time in the Sysi Hall, Hehku Space, Hiili Space, or the Kytö/Liekki Media Space.

The Kytö/Liekki Media Space is primarily intended for audiovisual works (various audio and video installations, multimedia works).

Applications must be submitted electronically (see instructions below) by 31 May 2026.

Art Centre Ahjo is located in the very center of Joensuu, in a charming Jugend-style wooden building in the courtyard of Joensuu Art Museum ONNI. In 2025, Art Centre Ahjo hosted 18 exhibition periods featuring 74 artists. The centre receives over 24,000 visitors annually. In connection with the art centre, in the Koksi Hall, operates Finland’s first art lending service, Joensuu Art Lending Service.

The commission on exhibition sales charged by Joensuu Artists’ Association is 30%.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The exhibition selections will be made by the exhibition committee, which does not provide justification for its decisions. Only applications submitted in PDF format will be reviewed.

A floor plan of Ahjo’s exhibition spaces is available as a PDF file.

Joensuu Artists’ Association hopes that artists selected for the 2027 exhibition program will organize accompanying events, such as artist talks.
