JULIUS LURJUS - NOTHING TO SAY 6.5.-24.5.2026
The exhibition on display at the Ahjo Art Centre’s Hehku space is a series of
sculptures, mainly ceramic and wooden, that were worked in 2025 and 2026. The works
are on display for the first time.
Lurjus' way of making art is based on freedom, the philosophy of non-forcing, and
stems from his 20-year-long role as an image maker.
Lurjus examines humanity and the spirit of the time, identifying with the material to be
worked on avoiding unnecessary politics. He strives for meaningfulness and
timelessness in his works. Lurjus makes visual art, leaving the articulation for the
experiencer of the art.
Julius Lurjus (b.1983) lives and works in North Karelia.
He graduated as a visual artisan in 2006, and as a Bachelor of Fine Arts as a student of
Radoslaw Gryta in 2020 from LAB University of Applied Sciences’ Institute of Design.
Lurjus's art has been on display in several solo and group exhibitions in Finland and
abroad since 2006.
