KUKKA-MAARIA KÄRKI - THIN PLACES 15.4.-3.5.2026

Thin Places is visual artist Kukka-Maaria Kärki’s newest exhibition in the Sysi Hall of Art Centre Ahjo. The exhibition explores vulnerability, incompleteness, and the act of releasing control in a world
where the pursuit of perfection has become the norm. Kärki works across painting, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, and recycled materials, building
layered and spatial works in which different materials and techniques intertwine into an interdisciplinary whole. At the heart of the exhibition lies the artist’s personal process: rebuilding identity after burnout,
learning to accept the mistakes inherent in continual change as a part of humanity, and seeing them as a source of strength in creative work. Imperfection emerges as the core of creativity – a
source of chance, intuition, and human experience.
