HANNELE TURUNEN - THE MAP

The works of The Map began when I got excited one day about preparing traditional dishes that my grandparents used to make in my childhood.

I ended up describing my personal process, reflecting on knowledge, mapping the effects of knowledge loss and the ways of transferring knowledge from history to the present day.
The much-talked-about experience of rootlessness, the associated emphasis on individualism, the connections between both genders, capitalism and society.

The intertwining mycelium of all of these. The works contain documentary material and offer two different perspectives on the subject.

What does the transfer and non-transfer of customs and habits, traumas and traditions from one generation to the next feel like?

How does each of us resolve the issue? What do we want to transfer to future generations? What do we transfer? What remains untransferred?
