NIKOLAI TIITINEN - I SEE FACES IN THE BRANCHES OF THE BIRCH TREE 26.3.-13.4.2025

“When I looked out the window of my room as a child, faces would often start to form between the branches of the birch tree. They were born and disappeared in the folds of light, waiting for the right moment and angle to become visible – as if reality could tilt for a moment if I just looked closely enough. Some faces squinted their eyes while smiling, others closed them entirely and drifted into thought. Some faces breathed deeply. Sometimes, when I stared at them too long, I would get a strange feeling – as if I were no longer the only observer, but the branches themselves were watching me, waiting for me to say the first word.”

In the works displayed in this exhibition, Tiitinen combines the sensitivity of watercolor surfaces with the expressiveness of digital painting. He explores how various moods and tensions arise from the dialogue between abstract surfaces and more clearly defined figures. The animated work presented in the exhibition is an absurd interpretation of the search for inspiration and its surprising discovery.

The exhibition opening will be on Tuesday 25.3.2025 klo: 18-20.
