Fabula dámore is a series of large watercolor paintings.

The locations of the paintings are the Roman Theater and Arena of the city of Arles, the Amphitheater of Taormina and the Greek Theater of Syracuse. The characters are Il Gattopardo, a sensual tiger cat in Sicily, and the Lion King and a strong lioness in France.

The animals have returned to the ruins and the people are gone. They used to be killed and tortured in Roman arenas, but now they are allowed to run around in peace.

In terms of painting, the works have three levels. The basis is an abstract painting created with watercolor ponds, thought, memory, history. A real place, an amphitheater or a Roman bath, is drawn on it. The third comes fiction, a story told by mythical animals.

Pive Toivonen has been painting watercolors for 20 years. The exhibition is of particular interest to watercolor painting enthusiasts. In the works, sovereign technique is combined with interesting expression.
