OUTI SÄRKIKOSKI - FRENCH WINDOW 5.3.-23.3.2025

Särkikoski worked for two months in France at the DRAWinternational artist residency in the spring of 2024. The works in the exhibition were created during the residency, inspired by the location.

"Residency periods effectively detach you from familiar working methods and the atmosphere of home in Finland. The studio was located in the upper floor of a high stone building in a medieval village, and from the window, I could marvel at the quiet life of the street below, still during wintertime. I took walks to a nearby waterfall (Cascade Pétrifiante), and that inspired the first warm-up drawing. After that, the drawing style took its own direction, and I let it go."

In the simple technique, paper and chalk, there is always something new to discover.
