ART CENTER AHJO, KYTÖ/LIEKKI-SPACE; COVER-UPS & TEARDOWNS

TIMO HÖYSSÄ - COVER-UPS & TEARDOWNS 10.9.-28.9.2025

Covered skulls and experimental ceramics.

Visual artist Timo Höyssä's previous exhibitions have mostly consisted of animal skulls covered with rich textiles, but along with the fabrics in Cover-ups and teardowns-exhibition, he also brings the pure forms of skulls to the fore for the first time with the help of ceramics.

Höyssä brings some of his latest textile sculptures to the Kytö/Liekki-space in Taidekeskus Ahjo, where he has created works with colorful and organic-style patterns on top of animal skulls. Among these hanging, bursting and soft forms, newer, harder surfaces peek out — stripped-down ceramic works that remind both the viewers and the artist himself of what is left under the layers.

Timo Höyssä (b.1991) is a visual artist from Vesilahti who plays with the combination of textile art and animal skulls in his works, creating new kinds of creatures from the remains of old ones. In recent years, he has developed an interest in ceramics, and thus, for the first time in this exhibition, he presents his experiments with it more widely.

His works have been and will be seen in several of his solo exhibitions and as part of the MOKA artist group.
