Drawings about everyday life in Art Center Ahjo.

In her Oravanpyörä (Squirrel Wheel) exhibition Saara Reinikainen deals with everyday life. The drawings depict situations where something has happened or something will happen.

Reinikainen finds everyday life fascinating because of its versatility and ordinariness. She tends to observe her surroundings simultaneously photographing different places. The photographs act as a starting point for the artist's thoughts and she does not try to document the environment or its atmosphere. Skillful realistic drawings tell their own story.

Saara Reinikainen's goal is to show that ordinary everyday life can also be interesting when you observe it for a longer period of time. She also tries to show that making art or interpreting it doesn't have to be complicated. Relatable and even humorous drawings give reflection on the meaning and aesthetics of everyday life. There are memorable things and moments in everyone's everyday life. The artist encourages you to come and see the everyday exhibition, to find your own perspectives in the works and to continue interpreting your own everyday life.

Saara Reinikainen graduated from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences as a visual artist in 2019 and in the same year joined the South Karelia Artist Society. Today she lives and works in Lappeenranta. For her, the everyday theme is a two-year process that is constantly evolving. The artist has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), the Finnish Art Society and the Southern Karelia Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
